Why do borrowers come to Midlands?
They don’t quite fit bank lending criteria.
Banks tend to have a very rigid, very long list of lending criteria. A lender must usually tick each and every ‘box’, otherwise the computer says no and the loan proposal is declined. Furthermore, the banks ‘machine driven’ approval process takes all common sense out of the decision making process. Some of the most common reasons lenders are declined include being a new business owner, being self-employed with no PAYE income, the borrower’s age, having assets but no cash flow over a short period of time or having smashed avocado on toast for breakfast. Banks will also decline customers wanting bridging finance or wanting to release equity value in their current property for investment purposes.
They need things done quickly
Banks are big, bureaucratic and can be really slow. Sometimes borrowers have opportunities that need to be executed quickly and big banks are just not going to be able to deliver to the borrowers timeframes.
